Belleville · León · 2024 – 2026

One waited for a gap in the clouds. The other chased a clear sky over the mountains. Two eclipses so far, and the chase continues.

At the turn of the tenth month, on the new-moon day, xinmao, the sun was eaten away, an omen most grim.

Many of them, it turned out, had also fled the northern clouds, driving south to chase the sun. People from all over the world, on this patch of dry, golden grass, meeting for a moment. When the dark came, they took off their glasses — they gasped, they wept, they prayed.
